In addition to attracting and retaining extraordinary faculty at The Shepherd School of Music, we must enhance our scholarship offerings for gifted music students to continue bringing them to The Shepherd School, Rice University and Houston. For this reason, your participation in the The Shepherd Society is more important than ever. Since 1977, The Shepherd Society has played a crucial role in our success here, and your membership, at whatever level you choose to participate, demonstrates that you believe in the importance of training young classical musicians. While all contributions to The Shepherd Society are applied directly toward student scholarships, naming a prize or a scholarship enables you to become even more involved, since it provides you with the opportunity to benefit a specific Shepherd School student and follow his or her progress throughout the year and beyond. If you have not participated in The Shepherd Society in the past, I hope that you will consider joining this year. Our members share a unique sense of pride in the quality of musical education we offer here, and have the opportunity to enjoy special member events throughout the academic year.
