CHORAL ENSEMBLES
The
Rice Chorale is a full chorus of about one hundred twenty
voices. All voice majors and all music majors who are not orchestral
instrumentalists sing in Rice Chorale. In addition, the Chorale
welcomes, by audition, other talented singers from the Rice University
student body and the greater Houston community. This group typically
performs four concerts per year, selecting major works from both
the a cappella and orchestral chorus repertoire.
Thomas Jaber has been the
Director of Vocal Ensembles since 1988. An accomplished pianist
and vocal coach, his leadership has brought all three groups to
a level where they are considered one of the city´s finest
musical treasures and their concerts have developed a loyal following
among the friends of Rice University and in Houston´s arts
community.
