SCHOLA PASTORIS ANTIQUAE MUSICAE

Schola Pastoris Antiquae Musicae, the early music ensemble of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, was founded by director Honey Meconi in 1987. The ensemble, including its subsidiary MWC (Men Who Chant), performs vocal and instrumental music from Gregorian chant to Elizabethan madrigals in concerts and worship services throughout the Houston and Galveston area, and has performed for such special events as the Neil J. O'Brien Triennial Symposium in Medieval Studies and the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute on Literary Traditions in Medieval Women.

The ensemble specializes in the music of Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179), and has embarked on a long-term project to perform all of the music that she wrote.
