Damian Blättler’s primary research area is tonal music after the common practice; other research interests include the conceptual underpinnings of harmonic theory, issues of authenticity and value in popular music, scale theory, and the music of Louis Andriessen. He has presented his work at national and regional conferences and has received fellowships from Yale and Harvard Universities. In addition to his music-theoretical pursuits, he has also worked as a writing instructor, educational consultant, and music teacher, having taught a freshman writing seminar on popular culture for Yale’s English Department, having designed and delivered teacher-training workshops for the Yale Teaching Center, and having worked for the Yale School of Music’s Music in Schools initiative.
