Live auditions will be scheduled individually on a date and time in that is mutually convenient to the applicant and faculty.

The green icon labeled "Preliminary Dropbox" at the bottom of this page will lead you to the Rice University portal for Acceptd, an online repository for preliminary audition materials. There is a $24 fee to use this service.

Preliminary Audition Repertoire

» Marimba:
- contemporary solo (4 mallets): 2 minute excerpt
- one movement from any Bach Suite or Sonata (e.g violin, celloc, lute - no repeats)

» Snare Drum:
- one concert snare drum solo (e.g. Delecluse, Peters advanced)
- three orchestral excerpts

» Timpani:
- three orchestral excerpts

» Xylophone:
- three orchestral excerpts

» Glockenspiel:
- two orchestral excerpts

Required graduate live audition repertoire

» Three Marimba selections:
- one contemporary solo (four mallets)
- two contrasting movements from one or two Bach Suite(s) or Sonata(s) (e.g violin, celloc, lute - no repeats)*
*One movemement with two mallets and one movement with four mallets

» Two Snare Drum solos:
- one rudimental snare drum solo (e.g. Pratt, Tompkins)
- one concert snare drum solo (e.g. Delecluse, Peters advanced)

» One Timpani Solo (e.g. Carter, Hochrainer, Delecluse)

» Orchestral Excerpts:
- five snare drum
- five timpani
- four xylophone
- four glockenspiel
- two cymbals
- two tambourine

» Sight reading

Live auditions will be held January 27, 28, 30 and February 10, 11 and 12, 2017
