The Shepherd School's Rice Chorale and the Chamber and Symphony orchestras will conclude their fall performance seasons with free concerts Nov. 28-29 and Dec. 1-2 at 8 p.m. on the campus of Rice University.

On Nov. 28-29, the Rice Chorale will present a concert of music for chorus and organ for the season of Christmas and winter in the Edythe Bates Old Recital Hall. Tom Jaber, director of choral ensembles at Rice, will conduct the performance, which will include the premiere of a new work by Shepherd School student composer, Hilary Purrington.

The Shepherd School's Chamber and Symphony orchestras will perform Dec. 1 and 2, respectively, in Stude Concert Hall. Larry Rachleff, the Walter Kris Hubert Professor of Orchestra Conducting, will conduct.

Musical selections for the chamber orchestra's performance Dec. 1 will include Copland's Clarinet Concerto, featuring Shepherd School graduate student Micah Wright on solo clarinet and conductor David Cho, followed by Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 in A Major, Op. 90, "Italian." On Dec. 2, the symphony orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 2, featuring Shepherd School graduate student Viktor Valkov on solo piano, Gershwin's "An American in Paris" and Strauss' "Suite from Der Rosenkavalier, Op. 59."
