ENGAGING AUDIENCES: REDEFINING THE ARTIST'S ROLE

On Wednesday, October 13 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm CDT, The Shepherd School of Music will present a live on-line webcast program featuring arts consultant Eric Booth and Shepherd School students in a masterclass setting. Mr. Booth will present Engaging Audiences:Redefining the Artist’s Role, via Internet2. It will be open to the public on-line with instant viewer feedback through America Online Instant Messaging.

Eric Booth, an award-winning actor, producer, and small businessman, heads the Mentoring Program at the Juilliard School. He is the editor of The Teaching Artist Journal, and is a regular columnist for Chamber Music America magazine. He has a nationally syndicated radio program on the Business Radio Network and regularly appears on CNN and NBC. Booth is the author of: The Everyday Work of Art (Sourcebooks, 1997) and frequently writes articles in Esquire, Theater in America, Entrepreneur, and other magazines.

Mr. Booth has taught at Stanford and N.Y.U. and has served as faculty chair of the Empire State Partnership program for three years; holds one of six chairs on the College Board's Arts Advisory Committee, and is former director of the Teacher Center of the Leonard Bernstein Center.
