JASPER QUARTET AND TRIO DESTINO TAKE SILVER AT FISCHOFF

Joseph E. Fischoff and the South Bend Chamber Music Society founded the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in 1973 as a way of encouraging young people to pursue chamber music study and performance.

Now in its 34th year, the Competition has grown from 6 to 48 participating ensembles in both wind and string categories of three to six performers. An average of 22 different nationalities are represented each year by foreign nationals from South America, Asia, and Europe.

Trio Destino: Hilary Abinana (flute), Amy Chung (clarinet), and Rachael Young (bassoon); and the Jasper String Quartet: J Freivogel (violin), Sae Niwa (violin), Sam Quintal (viola) and Rachel Henderson (cello)

The Fischoff National Chamber Music Association promotes and encourages the development, awareness and appreciation of chamber music and its role in our culture through innovative educational programs, chamber music performances, and sponsorship of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.

The Fischoff Competition is the nation’s largest chamber music competition and attracts the finest young instrumentalists from across the country and around the world. The competition is held in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at the University of Notre Dame.
