Paul Ellison, professor of double bass; Robert Yekovich, dean of the Shepherd School of Music; Cho-Liang Lin, professor of violin; and Michael Webster, professor of clarinet, met with Mark O' Connor (center), who recently performed a Guest Artist Recital and Workshop at the Shepherd School of Music.


Pierre Jalbert, associate professor of composition and theory; and Norman Fischer, professor of cello, along with students of the Shepherd School attended an open discussion led by the Kronos Quartet on April 11, 2008.

SHEPHERD SCHOOL PIANIST BRIAN CONNELLY DEBUTS INTERNET2

Shepherd School of Music pianist Brian Connelly joined the Research Channel meeting in Austin from Rice University via DVTS technology. Mr. Connelly played the music of Beethoven on a Beethoven-era 1790s piano, and then demonstrated the differences in performance of this music on a modern concert grand piano for the The Fall 2004 Internet2 Member Meeting hosted by The University of Texas at Austin.

Internet2 was created to serve the research and education needs of higher education, building upon new capabilities for high performance networking. The high performance networking capabilities of Internet2 open exciting new avenues for student learning and artistic expression.

Working in partnership with industry and government, Internet2 is a consortium being led by 207 universities to develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies, accelerating the creation of tomorrow's Internet. Internet2 is recreating the partnership among academia, industry and government that fostered today´s Internet in its infancy.
