STEVEN PRIDE TRUMPET MASTER CLASS
Two familiar colleagues who had performed with each other for nearly two decades reunited on February 21st in Stude Concert Hall. Joining Marie Speziale and the Shepherd School of Music trumpet studio for a master class and lecture was Steven Pride, the longstanding second trumpeter of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Both trumpeters performed together in the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for eighteen years.

Acknowledged as the first woman trumpeter in a major symphony
orchestra, Marie Speziale retired from the Cincinnati Symphony
Orchestra in November of 1996 after having served as its Associate
Principal Trumpet for thirty-two years (1964-1996).
Pride, who worked with Speziale for eighteen years while Speziale was principal trumpet of the Cincinnati Symphony has been with the CSO for twenty-five years.
Steven Pride has served on the faculties of Miami University and Northern Kentucky University. Pride also performs as solo cornetist with the Frank Simon Band, which is
dedicated to preserving the tradition of the revered cornetist/conductor Frank
Simon.
Pride can be heard on more than 100 recordings of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Pops. He also has performed as a soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony, Pops and other orchestras and bands, as well as on the CSO’s chamber music series. When not performing with the orchestra Steve enjoys teaching trumpet students of all levels. Steven Pride is a graduate of University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
