Founded in 1969, this remarkable ensemble of Eastern and Western musicians
appears regularly in the major music centers of the world. Praised for their
superb technical command and the commitment and intensity they bring to
performances and recordings, the members of the Tokyo String Quartet have
captivated an entire generation through their continuing musical achievements.
Two quartets from the Shepherd School performed music of Haydn and Mozart for the Tokyo String Quartet in Duncan Recital Hall on the morning of Tuesday, September 21st. Andrew Williams, Cecilia Weinkauff, Jonathan Mueller, and Kristopher Khang performed the opening movement to the String Quartet in G Minor, Op. 74, No. 3 "The Rider" (1793) of Franz Joseph Haydn.
Performing the String Quartet in F Major, K. 590 (1790) of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart were Cristian Macelaru, Victoria Lindsay, Travis Maril and Ryan Sweeney. This event was co-sponsored by the generous support of the Houston Friends of Music.
