Soprano ANA TREVINO-GODFREY, originally from Monterrey, Mexico is the past winner of numerous vocal competitions including the National Association of Teachers of Singing state and regional competitions, the Tuesday Night Musical Club of Cleveland competition and was also a finalist at the National Opera Competition in Washington, D.C. As a founding member of The Mercury Baroque Ensemble, she has performed many concerts in both the US and abroad, most recently at the 2003 Cerventino International Music Festival in Guanajato and Leon, Mexico.
Ms. Trevino-Godfrey began her musical studies at the Interlochen Arts Academy and Center for the Arts during her high school years and summers. She continued her training at The Cleveland Institute of Music where she was a student of Beverly Rinaldi. After graduating from CIM as the recipient of the Irvin Bushman Memorial Prize in Singing, she continued with her graduate studies at Rice University, earning the Cecilia Bartoli Award while studying with Kathleen Kaun. Ms. Trevino-Godfrey is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Rice University. She has also performed and studied at the Tanglewood Institute and the Oberlin School of Music's summer program in Casalmaggiore, Italy.
As a pedagogue, Ms. Trevino-Godfrey has taught students at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Rice University, Houston Community College, and is currently a faculty member and assistant director of Bridges Academy of Fine Arts. She has also both taught and conducted at the Interlochen Arts Camp. Ms. Trevino-Godfrey currently has a studio of private students from the Houston area.
