JULIANN WELCH grew up in Albany, New York where she began playing the horn in fourth grade.  She attended the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, from which she graduated high school in 2002.  She went on to study horn at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York under the tutelage of Professor Peter Kurau. 

While in Rochester, Juliann had the opportunity to perform with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra on multiple occasions and was an active chamber musician in the area.  Upon beginning Master's studies at the Shepherd School of Music, Juliann looks forward to an exciting and enriching time here in Houston!
