LINDSAY KESSELMAN graduated summa cum laude in May from Michigan State University with two degrees in music education and vocal performance. During her time at MSU, she performed several leading roles, including Anne Trulove in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, Claudia in Nine by Maury Yeston, and Despina in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte. She also gave a solo lecture recital on the poetry of Goethe’s Mignon novel set by three different composers, a shared recital of French mélodies, and a culminating senior recital this past November.
Kesselman traveled to China this past October with a select group of singers from MSU for an exchange with the conservatory of music in Shenyang. During her five years at Michigan State, she taught many high school students private voice and prepared them for district and state festivals. For the past three years, Kesselman was the Director of Children and Youth Choirs at Central United Methodist Church in Lansing, MI as well as the section leader in the chancel choir. In this position, she taught children ages three through eighteen.
She completed her student teaching at Okemos High School and Chippewa Middle School last spring in Michigan. This summer she taught at the Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus summer recruitment camp as well as the Holy Name Cathedral Children’s Choir Camp in Chicago. She is currently a member of the Houston Bach Society, a staff member of the Shepherd School Preparatory Program and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at Rice University.
