Violinist MARTIN DIMITROV is born in Gabrovo, Bulgaria. Currently he is a Master Student from the studio of Mr. Sergiu Luca. His chamber music coaches have been Mr. Dunham and Mr. Fisher. This is his second year of teaching in the “Michael P. Hammond” Preparatory Academy. Mr. Dimitrov teaches also non-majors at Rice University and has subbed for the Houston Symphony.
               
Mr. Dimitrov starts playing violin at age of 5. His educational background includes the "E. Manolov" Art School-Gabrovo, Bulgaria (1986-1994), the "P. Pipkov" Music High School-Pleven, Bulgaria (1994-1999), the State Music Academy "P. Vladigerov"-Sofia, Bulgaria (1999-2000) and B.M. (Cum Laude) in Violin Performance from Louisiana State University (2005). His teachers respectively have been Ivelin Valkov, Blagorodna Taneva, Prof. Guinka Guitchkova and Prof. Kevork Mardirossian.  
               
Martin Dimitrov is a winner of many competitions - Winner of the Concerto Competition in Monroe, Louisiana and performed with Monroe Symphony Orchestra (2004),  1st. prize on the 16th National Competition for Singers and Instrumentalists "S. Obretenov", Provadiya, Bulgaria  (1998), Grand prize "E. Manolov" on the competition "E. Manolov", Gabrovo, Bulgaria (1994), Grand prize overall on the "1st National Competition for Young Violinists", Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria (1993), 1st. prize on the competition for students from Music Schools, Rousse, Bulgaria  (1993), 1st. prize for best performance of a Bulgarian piece on the "Competition for best performance of a Bulgarian piece", Gabrovo, Bulgaria (1989). In addition he has been a soloist of the Gabrovo Chamber Orchestra, the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra, the Colegium Musicum - Bankiya, the "Brevis" Chamber Orchestra and the Monroe Symphony Orchestra. He has participated in the masterclasses of Yfrah Neaman, Paul Kantor, Eric Friedman, Jorja Fleezanis, Camilla Wickes, Curt Thompson, Mincho Minchev, Vanya Milanova, Devi Erlih and Daniel Nalesso.
               
As a chamber musician Mr. Dimitrov has been chosen to perform on a faculty concerts at the 33rd, 34th, and 35th International Music Festival at Round Top, Texas and has been coached and performed with Jorja Fleezanis, Jesse Levine, Emilio Colon, Felicia Moye and Chen Zhao. His chamber music groups were selected one of the winners of the Chamber Music Competition at the 33rd and twice winners of the 34th International Music Festival at Round Top, Texas. At LSU his primary chamber music coaches have been Prof. Dennis Parker and Prof. Kevork Mardirossian. He has participated in the Heber Springs Chamber Music Festival in 2002 and 2004. 

Mr. Dimitrov has been member of the Baton Rouge Symphony for five years and Acadiana Symphony for four. He has been an Assistant Concertmaster for The BRSO for the 2002 -2003 season. He has been a Principal Second Violin and a Concertmaster for the Natchez Opera Festival (2003 and 2004, 2005). Martin has been chosen for Concertmaster for the Children’s Concert at the 35th International Music Festival at Round Top, Texas (2005) and Concertmaster for the Patriotic Concert at the 34th International Music Festival at Round Top, Texas (2004). 

In addition to the violin Mr. Dimitrov has been passionate about the viola playing. He has performed in many chamber music groups at LSU, has been member of the Louisiana Sinfonietta and the Louisiana Sinfonietta String Quartet. He has subbed for the BRSO and has participated in the Heber Springs Chamber Music Festival (2004) and been principal viola at the Round Top Festival (2005).

Mr. Dimitrov has also taught in the LSU Preparatory Academy and studied a year of graduate conducting with Prof. Julian Shew in his undergraduate degree.
