SYLVIA
OUELLETTE is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music
where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance.
While doing graduate work at the University of Maryland, Ms Ouellette
studied chamber music with the Guarnieri Quartet. Her teachers
have included Kathleen Winkler, Linda Cerone, Arnold Steinhardt,
as well as principal violinists of the Cleveland and Philadelphia
Orchestras, the National and Pittsburgh Symphonies, and the New
York Philharmonic.
Since
then, Ms. Ouellette has performed on the East Coast, in the Midwest,
and in Italy as a recitalist and soloist, and as a chamber and orchestral
musician. Her performances have included a solo recital for FerrarEstate
in Ferrara, Italy and a broadcast as a featured reciatalist on NPR.
In addition to her performing career, Ms. Ouellette is devoted to teaching. While
maintaining a private studio for the past 12 years, she has developed a pedagogical
method for older beginners and has organized chamber music camps in Maryland
and Iowa. She is certified in Suzuki Books 1 and 2, and has attended workshops
on early childhood musical development as well as on the training of advanced
students.
When not teaching or performing, Ms Ouellette spends her time reading, cooking,
petting her cats, and traveling.
