PRIVATE LESSONS

Private instruction with a Shepherd School graduate student is available for a variety of instruments as well as voice. Instrumental lessons may begin as early as age six; however formal vocal study is not advised until the voice has matured at about age 15.

All lessons are scheduled by the instructor and usually meet on a weekly basis. Lessons may last from 30 minutes to one hour depending upon the needs of the student and the advice of the instructor.

Lessons take place in Alice Pratt Brown Hall, the Shepherd School of Music building. The Preparatory Administrator generally assigns students to a graduate instructor. Requests for a particular instructor are honored whenever possible.
