2008 SUMMER MUSIC CAMP FOR CHILDREN 2-9

YCD Class
Young Children's Music Class
Something New! Because we have such wonderful musicians on the camp staff, and because they want to meet all of your wonderful children, this year we will have teacher/class exchanges so that everyone has a little taste of everyone! These share times will be integrated into the regular camp day.

At each week long music camp, your child will participate in imaginative musical exploration that includes singing, rhythm games, playing and building percussion instruments, creative movement, improvisation, creating musical stories, and an open class in which family members can join in some of our activities.

All of our activities are hands-on, bodies-on, voices-on, designed to encourage children in their musical creativity, as well as teach them about the wonders of acoustics (the science of sound) and the fundamentals of music. Our camp will develop your child’s aural and physical skills, concentration skills, self-confidence, and ability to get along with others.

Camps are highly recommended for children who take instrumental lessons as well as those who plan to do so. The children will experience music from a completely different perspective than they do during lessons, yet the skills they develop in camp will naturally be applied to their playing.

The goal of our camp is to develop the innate musicianship of children and to teach children to understand music through joyful experience.

We will have a family barn dance again this summer - complete with fiddle and banjo player, caller and refreshments. More information will follow.

YOUNG CHILDREN'S DIVISION 2008 SUMMER MUSIC CAMP SCHEDULE

We will continue to offer one all boy and all girl camp session for four year old children. All other age-groups will be mixed. You can read more about the teachers in our camp and the philosophy of the Young Children’s Division.

Morning snack will be supplied for three and four hour camps. Please bring lunch as indicated. IF YOUR CHILD HAS ANY DIETARY RESTRICTIONS, PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD’S SNACK AND DRINK. Please send your child with a name labeled sweat shirt, because our over air-conditioned space can get quite chilly.
