Online Preliminary Submission by December 1, 2016

The green icon labeled "Preliminary Dropbox" at the bottom of this page will lead you to the Rice University portal for Acceptd, an online repository for preliminary audition materials. There is a $24 fee to use this service.

Preliminary submission is by video and is identical to the live audition requirements.

Good audio quality helps the faculty make an accurate assessment of your playing. The faculty would prefer a recording which does not have compressed dynamics. Try if possible, to set your recording levels manually. Please set the automatic volume to the "off" position.

Required undergraduate repertoire for both preliminary submission and live audition
Thirty minutes of memorized repertoire representing three of the following four style periods: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Impressionist/Contemporary.

Suggested live audition repertoire

» Prelude and Fugue from The Well-Tempered Clavier

» A sonata by Haydn, Mozart, or Beethoven

» A solo piece from the Romantic repertoire

» A work by a 20th or 21st century composer

Live audition dates are January 20, 23, 27 and February 9, 10 and 13, 2017
