The Shepherd School of Music invites you to its Family Concert, sponsored by The Shepherd Society. This year’s concert will feature ensembles showcasing the instrument families of the orchestra. From the giant double bass to the tiny piccolo, just as in a human family, each member makes its own unique contribution. Join us as we explore the characteristics, quirks and quintessence of the instruments and how they get along with other members of their families.
· Learn about the science of acoustics through the instruments in the orchestra
· Discover the extraordinary variations in sound and personality within each family group
· See and hear orchestral instruments up close before the concert
