Student Employment

Student Employment & Federal Work Study

The Shepherd School offers employment opportunities for music students as stage managers for recitals in Duncan Recital Hall, and the Edythe Bates Old Recital Hall and Grand Organ. Job opportunities are also available in recording, video recording and as building and hall monitors for non-major students. Students have the flexibility to work, so you earn extra income when you need it.

Student employment provides opportunities to work part time on campus, to assist in meeting educational expenses. On-campus employment is an opportunity for professional and educational growth, with over 30 positions ranging from 3 to 15 hours of work per week. There are two student work programs: Federal Work-Study (funded by the U.S. government) and Rice Student Employment (funded by The Shepherd School of Music). Eligibility for Federal Work-Study is based on demonstrated financial need. Rice Student Employment is open to all students, international and domestic.
