Audition Requirements
Online Prescreening Submission due December 1, 2024 by 11:59 PM (EST)
Multiple uploaded files of your prescreening requirements are acceptable.
Required graduate Tenor Trombone prescreening repertoire is by video submission:
- Two contrasting movements from a Baroque sonata or Bach cello suite
- Solo of your choice
- Orchestral Excerpts: Mozart Tuba Mirum from Requiem; Trombone solo from Bolero by Ravel; Berlioz Hungarian March (2nd trombone part); Schumann Symphony No. 3, "Rhenisch" 4th mvt. (1st trombone part); Mahler Symphony No. 3, trombone solos from 1st mvt.; Wagner Ride of the Valkyries (both major and minor sections)
Required graduate Tenor Trombone live audition repertoire:
- One Sonata by a Baroque composer such as Galliard, Marcello, Handel, Vivaldi, Telemann, Corelli, or Bach Cello Suite
- One of the following: Dutilleux Chorale, Cadence et Fugato; Grondahl Concerto; Larsson Concertino, or a solo of your choice of comparable difficulty
- Orchestral Excerpts: Mozart Tuba Mirum from Requiem; Trombone solo from Bolero by Ravel; Berlioz Hungarian March (2nd trombone part); Schumann Symphony No. 3, "Rhenisch" 4th mvt.(1st trombone part); Mahler Symphony No. 3, trombone solos from 1st mvt.; Wagner Ride of the Valkyries (both major and minor sections)
- Major Scales two octaves
- Sight reading (may include Tenor and Alto Clefs)
No accompanist is needed or desired for the audition.

- Wagner Ride of the Valkyries (both major and minor sections)
Required graduate Bass Trombone live audition repertoire:

- Bozza New Orleans; Pilss Concerto; Ritter-George Concerto; Solo of your choice of comparable difficulty
- Orchestral Excerpts:
- Haydn Achieved is the Glorious Work from The Creation
- Schumann Symphony No. 3 Renisch 4th movement
- Berlioz Hungarian March
- Strauss Ein Heldenleben
- Wagner Entry of the Gods into Valhalla from Das Rheingold
