Viola applicants are also reminded to be aware of the high school requirements for admission to Rice University.
Required preliminary repertoire is by video submission
- Two contrasting movements from a Bach solo cello suite or violin sonata or partita
- One movement from a Classical or major concerto
Required audition repertoire
- Two contrasting movements from a Bach solo cello suite or violin sonata or partita
- One movement of a Classical or major concerto
- One movement of a contrasting work
It is recommended that the Bach and concerto be memorized. No accompanist is needed or desired for the audition.
Audition dates are January 31, February 1, 6, or 7, 2027.
If you are under the age of 18 at the time of your audition, we will need this form filled out.
