Historical Performance faculty member at Juilliard, John Thiessen, born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, has been principal trumpet player for Tafelmusik, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, American Bach Soloists, Trinity Baroque Orchestra, and American Classical Orchestra. He received his bachelor’s in trumpet performance from Eastman in 1987 and his master’s in historical musicology from King’s College, University of London, in 1990. Thiessen became a Juilliard faculty member in 2009.
