The final orchestra concert of the year unlocks three distinct, brilliantly imaginative worlds. Shepherd School Concerto Competition winner Marina Ziegler performs Bartók’s fiery and folk-infused Violin Concerto No. 2, followed by the world premiere of Yu-Shiuan Mei’s … in wonderland, an imagined dreamscape through fragmented quotes of Beethoven’s music. The season comes to a close with Mussorgsky’s majestic Pictures at an Exhibition, a vivid musical stroll through a gallery of paintings brought to life by Ravel’s spectacular orchestration.
