After giving audiences a preview at last season’s 50th anniversary gala, mezzo-soprano and Shepherd alumna Sasha Cooke returns for the world premiere of Professor of Composition Pierre Jalbert’s complete song cycle Another Starry Night, which sets texts by Walt Whitman. The evening culminates in Tchaikovsky’s emotionally charged Fifth Symphony, a gripping musical journey where a dark, recurring "fate" motif is transformed into a triumphant celebration.
