An extraordinary achievement for the Class of 2027!
The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2026 Shepherd School of Music Concerto Competition. In a rare and impressive feat, all four winners this year represent our junior class.

Max Milian, piano, student of Brian Connelly
Samantha Washecka, violin, student of Kathleen Winkler
Marina Ziegler, violin, student of Paul Kantor
Each musician will perform with a Shepherd School ensemble next school year. Stay tuned for our 26/27 season announcement this summer for more details.
