Violin student Sophie Ayer wins 2nd place in 2026 Sphinx Competition

Shepherd School student Sophie Ayer earned 2nd place in the 2026 Sphinx Competition Senior Division Finals, receiving a $20,000 prize. Sophie is a 23-year-old violinist from Austin, Texas pursuing her master's degree with Professor of Violin David Chan.

The Sphinx Competition is a prestigious national competition that advances careers and expands opportunities for Black and Latino classical musicians.
