Founded in 1975, The Shepherd Society provides scholarship support for our students and plays a crucial role in attracting today’s most talented young musicians to study at Rice.
A Message from the dean
Dear Shepherd Community,
On Thursday, June 25th, the worldwide community of Rice Owls will come together for a day of compassionate and charitable giving with the 24-Hour Challenge. The goal is to have 4,700 alumni, students, parents and friends make a gift of any amount to an area at Rice important to them.
We invite each member of the Shepherd community to consider making a contribution to the Shepherd Society in support of the next generation of gifted young musicians. Continuing to provide exceptional learning opportunities in these unprecedented times is our intent. Your assistance remains essential to our achieving that end.
As our nation confronts a global pandemic coupled with ongoing systemic racism and inequality, our resiliency, creativity, empathy and humanity must be fully deployed. We ask you to join us in this noble cause and very much appreciate your consideration of this request.
With immense gratitude,
Dean Robert Yekovich
