Biography

Geoffrey Scott is a higher education administrator with over two decades of leadership spanning student affairs, enrollment management, and conservatory admissions. Since joining Rice University in 2010, he has dedicated himself to supporting music students through their academic, artistic, and personal journeys. In his current role, Geoffrey oversees student affairs, manages merit scholarship distribution, and leads vital enrollment, retention and diversity initiatives, including serving as Co-Chair of the Shepherd School of Music (SSM) Diversity Taskforce (MUSE).

Through his work as an undergraduate student advisor, managing student travel funds, and overseeing community partnership initiatives like The Concert Truck and the Houston Symphony’s Community Embedded Musicians, Geoffrey is committed to fostering an inclusive, vibrant, and supportive environment for all musicians.

Prior to his appointment as Assistant Dean of the Shepherd School, Geoffrey served as Director of Music Admissions. His extensive background in performing arts education also includes serving as the Senior Assistant Director for Recruitment at The Juilliard School, where he led outreach for the Dance, Drama, and Music Divisions, and as Assistant Director of Graduate Admission at Suffolk University.

A classically trained vocalist, Geoffrey holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Opera Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Boston University, and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Suffolk University. He remains deeply engaged in the music admissions community through his professional affiliations with the Independent Consortium of College Admissions in Music (ICCAM) and the Music Admissions Roundtable (MAR).
