Biography
As the Assistant Director of Music Admissions, Nicolás Kruger-Seiler oversees the day-to-day operations of the Admissions team, while also managing the application processes for Strings, Keyboard, Conducting, Music History, and Musicology students. His approach is student-centered, looking at equitable admission practices and ensuring student support at every step. Beyond Rice, Nicolás has worked in recruitment for institutions like Southwestern University and DePaul University, advised identity-based student groups, and engaged in advocacy work tied to LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. He has conducted research centered around identity development in educational spaces, democratic education, and musical migration and influence.
Outside of work, Nicolás has been involved with all avenues of fine arts. He has trained and performed as a cellist at Interlochen, Tanglewood, Eastern Festival of Music, and SXSW, as well as worked for nationally-recognized theatre companies such as The Alley Theatre and Lookingglass Theatre Company. In his free time, he can be found enjoying the latest movie or cheering on his Chicago Cubs.
