The Lucian and Nancy Morrison Theater, located in Brockman Hall for Opera, is a three-tiered, 600-seat, European-style theater with an orchestra chamber for 70 musicians and the most advanced audio and video technology designed by theater planning and design consultants Fisher Dachs Associates; A state-of-the art, “pin-drop” acoustic experience created by Threshold Acoustics; and theater technology capabilities including automated fly systems and digital scenery projection.
While the theater will accommodate a sizable audience of 600, it is strategically proportioned so as not to over-extend our opera students’ vocal capabilities (most singers’ voices do not fully mature physically until their 30’s and early 40’s). No other performance space in the country is designed to accommodate both younger singers’ voices and the production requirements of a professional-grade theater.
