Online Submission of your portfolio is due December 1
Composers must submit a minimum of three compositions that are representative of their work. Please also submit an audio recording of each work if available to the graduate application.
The interview is mandatory and an important condition of the application process. After DMA materials have been submitted, faculty will review portfolios and extend interview invitations to DMA application finalists. Interview will be conducted on the Rice University campus, and will take place on January 31 and February 1, 2020.
To establish the applicant's musical ability and background, applicants must also demonstrate proficiency on a musical instrument by submitting an audio recording with a performance by the applicant of two contrasting works from the standard repertoire. It is not required that instrumental competence be at the level of a major in performance.
Your resume and answers to the DMA supplemental questions are due December 1 with the online graduate application.
Any questions regarding your application may be directed to Phyllis Smith.
